welcome to arlington Jeff Williams Mayor, City of Arlington 4 | 81st Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic January 2, 2017 America’s team, America’s pastime, American made automobiles. Arlington is the American Dream City. We’re home to the Six Flags, Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, General Motors and a host of global and family-owned businesses. These things didn’t just happen in Arlington. Our competitive, can-do spirit made these dreams reality. And every day, our residents are living their dreams too. In Arlington, a student can go from kindergarten to Ph.D. without ever leaving our city limits. Along the way they can take advantage of excelling educational opportunities at our local independent school districts, Tarrant County College and the University of Texas at Arlington. Arlington parents can achieve their dreams of owning a home in a community where the housing dollar stretches further than most. And, they can raise a family in a safe community that is stocked with award-winning parks and libraries. Locals and visitors can see their dreams of family fun happen all over Arlington, from an exciting NFL or college football game at AT&T Stadium, to an afternoon of Major League Baseball with the Texas Rangers at the iconic Globe Life Park, to a day of fun in the sun at the historic Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor. And today, more than 200 players and coaches will take the field to achieve their dream of winning the 81st annual Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic in front of a national audience. The Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic is one of six bowl games that comprise the College Football Playoff. The Classic will be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington for the eighth consecutive year and will also be televised by ESPN. On behalf of the City of Arlington and the Arlington City Council, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to The American Dream City. Sit back and take in this incredible stadium and what is always an exciting and memorable game. Sincerely, greg abbott Governor, State of Texas W. Jeff Williams Mayor
