I n 2014, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase Elliott is ready for his rookie season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Series had one of its largest rookie classes, with eight drivers competing for Sunoco Rookie of the Year Honors. That class Brian Scott won his only included Kyle Larson and Austin Coors Light Pole Award Dillon — Larson was named Rookie in the NASCAR Sprint of the Year. Cup Series at Talladega Superspeedway. While that class was deep in terms of how many drivers there were, it does not compare to the level of talent that is featured in this year’s class. Among those drivers running their fi rst, full-time season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, four rookies stand above the rest — Ryan Blaney, Chris Buescher, Chase Elliott and Brian Scott. Blaney spent the 2015 season running part-time in both the NASCAR XFINITY Series with Team Penske, and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with Wood Brothers Racing — a joint operation with Team Penske. He had success in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, posting two victories and 10 top 10s in 13 starts. In 18 starts for Wood Brothers Racing, he had one top fi ve and two top 10s. Before the end of last season, there were questions of whether or not Blaney would continue his part-time role with Wood Brothers Racing — the team had not attempted a full NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season since 2008. However, those questions were answered when the team announced that Blaney would be driving the No. 21 Motorcraft Ford for the full, 2016 season. “It is what you dream of as a kid,” Blaney said in November. “I have been fortunate enough to get great opportunities and meet great people — being with Team Penske in 2012 — which led to the Wood Brothers this year and then beyond for next year. “Obviously, it is a little overwhelming right now … knowing what is going to come, but I am excited for it. I don’t get excited about a lot of things, and maybe I don’t show it, but I am really excited about this program for next year and having the opportunity.” Full Speed PHOTOS GETTY IMAGES 106 ANTHEM MOTORSPORTS ANNUAL
