Elliott Sadler and Justin Allgaier Form New JR Motorsports Lineup Fresh START PHOTOS GETTY IMAGES The 2014 NASCAR XFINITY Series season was a banner year for JR Motorsports — Chase Elliott won the series title, and Regan Smith fi nished second in the standings, right behind Elliott. But, with no championship in 2015 and Elliott leaving to race full-time in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, JRM’s co-owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. had to make some tough decisions. One of those tough decisions came in the form of releasing veteran driver Smith, who joined JRM in 2012. “I know I ’m not going to be back to JR Motorsports next year for sure,” Smith said. “I want to go out strong at the end. Certainly it’s been a good three years, so we want to have a good last three races.” The decision ultimately boiled down to success. In order for JRM to remain ahead of the competition, Earnhardt had to choose a driver with a successful track record and the potential to bring JRM another championship in the XFINITY Series. That driver was Elliott Sadler. In 2015, JRM announced that Sadler would be joining the team and bringing sponsor OneMain Financial with him. “It’s an honor to be in the position to represent JR Motorsports and OneMain Financial on and off the track next season,” Sadler said. “I’ve known Kelley and Dale Jr. a long time, and I respect their passion and desire to win in this business. I’m proud to partner with OneMain Financial and continue our longstanding relationship.” Sadler, who is leaving Roush Fenway Racing, brings an impressive driving record with him to JRM. In 18 seasons, he recorded 10 victories, 66 top fi ves and 144 top 10s. Sadler also fi nished second in the championship standings in 2011 and 2012. “We are very pleased to welcome OneMain Financial and Elliott into the JR Motorsports family,” said Kelley Earnhardt Miller, co-owner and general manager of JRM. “Elliott has raced a few times for us in the past, Elliott Sadler is moving from Roush Fenway Racing to JR Motorsports for the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series season. 140 ANTHEM MOTORSPORTS ANNUAL
