COMMUNITY RELATIONS EDUCATION 2 0 1 6 Y E A R B O O K 7 MILITARY The Chicago Bears are dedicated to supporting the men and women in the United States Military. Our ties date back to when our founder, George S. Halas, served in the U.S. Navy during both World War I and World War II. We are proud to continue this tradition through numerous initiatives that provide support and show our sincere gratitude to those who serve our country and protect our freedom. Our efforts include honoring outstanding service during each game at Soldier Field, sending care packages, and providing unique Bears experiences to veterans, active members of the military, and their families. The Chicago Bears reach thousands of students each year through our education programs. Through strategic collaborations with community and business partners, we offer and support initiatives that promote literacy to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade, provide character education at the high school level, and honor outstanding teachers in the Chicago area. It is our hope that these initiatives will help foster a love of learning and encourage students to stay in school and continue to pursue their education.
